about

Originally written at midnight after a lonesome Sunday, this bass duet serves a few purposes. Firstly, it depicts the majestic eagle not as a glorious killer, but as a quiet, lonesome bird soaring high above, unnoticed. This piece also tries to bring together some of the mystery of the Stranger; it shows us that the lonely bass soloist is in fact Vincent Montessori (I realize it's not a violin, so sorry), and the crazy ending is made to represent the man's mental destruction and suicide (with simulated hanging and all). The scribbling and voice at the end communicates the words used in my short story for the suicide note of Vincent Montessori. The second song I ever wrote, this song has since been made into the third (granted happier) movement of my First Suite: Birds in Bflat. Although this song was originally improvised, I had been constantly editing and will continue to tweak and adjust this song, making it the only officially "unfinished" song on the album.
