The wolf cries in the morning
As he looks to the sun
He sees the dead sheep working
Working until the farmer's come
The wolf stalks closer now
Sees the prey at hand
But then, life cuts him down as he
Falls unto the sand, oh....
(Please don't go) x2
The cooked ground ignites the woods
And makes him sad
He looks to the promised land
Up on top of the Hoover Dam
Thought attached by sound
Through the Mississippi Gorge
The wolf meets a friendly coyote
And they tell tales of old
(Please don't go) x2
Please don't go all the way...
And as the wolf looked at its prey,
Its dead prey with the blood splattered
upon its fur coat, the wolf looked upon the moon
And said, "Why do you shine on this dark day?"
Then the wolf howls at the ever shining,
Ever silent moon that cast a beam of hope,
Yet, was it not a hopeful day?
The wolf gazed into the eyes of the mother
Whom it had slain, and the wolf cried
As it began to transform into one
That was not of our world.
